Candombe
Candombe is a vibrant Afro-Uruguayan music and dance genre that pulses with the rhythms of ancestral African drums. Originating from the enslaved communities in Uruguay, it prominently features three types of drums—chico, repique, and piano—creating a complex, syncopated beat that fuels street parades known as "llamadas." Deeply rooted in cultural resistance, Candombe is both a celebration of heritage and a living testament to the fusion of African traditions with South American influences.
